The most elusive and secretive of the big cats, the leopard is native to more than 35 countries in Africa. A nocturnal and solitary creature, this cunning, stealthy cat can often be spotted lounging in a tree waiting for approaching prey. According to the San Diego Zoo, leopards can jump forward 20 feet, leap 10 feet straight up and run up to 36 mph.
